  • 2016 Youth Hackathon Series

Bringing together urban youth, grades 7th-12th,

to learn how to code through civic-minded challenges.

BLUE1647's CODE BLUE USA is a12-month series of themed Hackathon's

hosted throughout the United States to help bridge the tech gap in

    under served communities.

We’re closing the digital-divide in our communities and helping students access tech programs.

Our coding programs are different: we find student code developers in the most unlikely places…the community. CODE BLUE USA focuses on encouraging all students to take the first step in coding by trying it out! Since 2010, our Edison-Award winning youth education program encouraged over 10,000 students across the world to do just that — try out coding and think innovatively about how to solve a community problem.

    Youth Hackathons

Partnering with industry developers, we give students new ways to learn and beginner coders new opportunities to get involved, through cohort-based training workshops & events.

  • FAQ's

    Youth FAQ's

    Who can participate?

Youth in grades 7-12 are invited and encouraged to participate.

There is no preference for a particular subject or area of study.

This is an opportunity to learn new skills, get creative, make connections,

and do something awesome in only 12 hours.

What if I don't know how to "code"?

Don't sweat it! All kinds of creative brains help make apps & other tech products.

From concept - to design - to communicating the value of it - it doesn't matter how technical you are

or whether or not you have any coding or HACKATHON experiences.

What can I build in the HACKATHON?

Anything, really! While our focus is on web & mobile technology, we encourage teams to come up with

cool, clever apps that include a large variety of perspectives & ideas.

Part of the fun is learning how to program and work with other people.

We'll also provide some great workshops to teach you some coding basics.

What should I bring with me?

All you have to bring is creativity, energy and an interest in technology!
